How To Build A Scaffold In 4 Simple Steps

The pre-assembled Scaffolding frames allow a fast, simple and safe assembly, forming a stable platform that allows work at height, such as renovation of fronts, plasters, paints, placement of air conditioners, windows, tiles, repair of balconies , etc.

These are composed of several pieces, of which not all are necessary to assemble them:
  • Side racks
  • Short reins
  • Long reins
  • Bolt nuts
  • Sheet metal planks
  • Rotating wheels
  • Regulating shoes

Before analyzing the assembly method, let's review the available measures and models:
The measurements of the traditional model scaffolding are: 1.30 m wide, 2.50 m long and 1.60 m high each body.
Scaffolding

These are the most common measure of scaffolding; they can arm up to 6 bodies per tower and provide a firm structure to work comfortably.

The measures of the corridor model scaffolding are: 0.90 wide, 2.50 m long and 1.60 m high each body.

These are the measure used for places with little space such as corridors, building lungs, balconies, interiors, apartments, etc. That they are thinner, does not mean that they are less unstable than the traditional measure, but it should be noted that they limit the work space of the operator. You can build up to 6 bodies per tower and provide a firm structure to work comfortably.

Let's see an example of the possibilities of work that allows us an armed structure: using 2 stacked units, the operator would be standing at 3.20 m and will be able to work comfortably up to the height of 4.50 m.

Now yes, let's see step by step how to assemble them:

Step 01: Select a secure base on which to assemble the structure.
One of the main concerns is the level of the scaffolding. If you are in an uneven terrain, it will be necessary to use regulating shoes (these level up to 30 cm) or wooden stops so that the scaffolding is level.

Step 02: Optional: Place Wheels.
If you plan to move the scaffolding in several points and you have a smooth and novel surface, you can include wheels with braking system. Bear in mind that you can only build up to 3 bodies with wheels at the base, since more than 3 bodies of stacked scaffolding exceed the allowed weight that these support and the structure loses stability, besides being practically impossible to move the tower. Remember that you must lock the wheels when you are going to climb the scaffolding.

Step 03: Mount the first body. This work can be done by one or more people, but we will explain it as if only one operator did it.
One of the side racks should be placed against the wall so that the locking head is on the top, then fit in the screws on the side of the ladder of the frame the 2 short reins and the long reins on the other side, place the nuts and tighten until it stops (this can be done manually or with a power wrench). Take to the unused end of the reins the second frame, place with the ladder on the same side as the first and fit the short reins first. These reins are assembled in parallel (=), the rein of the bolt on top of the first frame is place on the bolt on the top of the second frame, and the rein of the bolt on the bottom of the bolt on the bottom of the

second frame. The long reins are placed differently, they are crossed, so the rein that fits into the bolt above the first frame must be placed on the lower bolt of the second frame, and the bottom of the first on the top screw of the second frame (X), tighten the nuts until the stop and voila, we have armed our first body!

NOTE 01: some scaffolds come with this head wider than the structural pipe and others with a thinner head; the procedure is the same.

NOTE: it is important that the side of the ladder of the frame, where the short reins are, is pointing to the wall on which you are going to work.

Step 04: Mount the plank.
The sheet metal planks are 2.50 meters long (the total length of the scaffolding) by 30 centimeters wide. At the ends they have inserts that fit right into the boards at the top of the planks. They are the heaviest part of scaffolding, which is why it is necessary to be prudent when assembling them in the structure.
